WASHING-add.jpg
Wash
Washing garments in Scotland’s clear and clean water is absolutely vital in achieving the unique soft and luxurious ‘feel’ of a Barrie garment.  The traditional skill of washing garments can only be achieved through lengthy experience which is passed from generation to generation.  As with every stage in the manufacturing process, every washed garment is checked by hand.
Clean make-up
The washed garment passes through this area where a number of highly skilled and handcrafted processes are carried out.
For example, every garment is cut by hand to create necklines, etc.  Trimmings are linked onto the clean garments by hand, and necks trims and pocket tops are all sewn by hand.  Developing skills in these highly handcrafted areas can take up to 18 months.  Quality checks are, of course, carried out for every single garment.
